Writer Benyamin, known for his novel Aadujeevitham (Goat Life) which tells the story of a man forced to live in slave-like conditions on a goat farm, participated in an auction at the Kalamassery Agricultural Festival. The auction was held to raise funds for families affected by landslides in Wayanad. Despite winning the bid for a goat by quoting a price three times higher than its original value, Benyamin handed the goat back to the organisers for re-auctioning. The money raised from the auction will go towards rehabilitation efforts in Wayanad.
