61-Year-Old Woman’s Year-Long UTI Leads to Discovery of Rare Colon Condition | Chennai News



A 61-year-old woman in Chennai struggled with a urinary tract infection for 18 months despite multiple rounds of antibiotics. Doctors diagnosed her with a rare condition called spontaneous colo-vesical fistula, where the colon and bladder connect abnormally. Surgery was necessary to prevent life-threatening complications, and the patient’s family played a crucial role in her successful recovery. The minimally-invasive surgery was performed, separating the colon and bladder, repairing the damage, and preventing future fistulas. The woman has fully recovered and is now free from urinary tract infection symptoms.
