Forty-seven students from Sai LNCPE College in Thiruvananthapuram are facing charges for attacking Umesh Lamba, a Rajasthan-based athlete, during Onam celebrations. Umesh, who has been training at the institute for a year, sustained serious injuries and had to be hospitalized due to a brain haemorrhage. The students involved were reportedly drunk at the time of the incident. Umesh explained that the altercation began when two students fell on him while fighting, and escalated when he tried to intervene. Fortunately, a coach intervened and saved him from further harm.
