In a significant operation against Maoists in Chhattisgarh, security forces killed 28 Naxalites in a fierce encounter in the Bastar region. The gunfight took place between Thulthuli and Nendur villages in Abhujmaad on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border. State police’s District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force were involved in the operation, resulting in the deaths of 28 Naxalites. Weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, were recovered from the encounter spot. This marks the 185th Maoist killed by security forces in the Bastar region this year. In a previous encounter on April 16, 29 Naxalites were also killed in Kanker district.
