21st national livestock census 2024 launched in Tirupati



The 21st All India National Livestock Census – 2024 has started in Tirupati district to map the region’s animal resources. The animal husbandry department secretary and the district collector launched the survey, stressing the need for accurate data from the public to ensure reliable results. The census will cover various categories of animals in Andhra Pradesh to aid in future livestock policy development. Livestock is crucial for rural livelihoods, providing income for many households. Over 14,000 department personnel nationwide, including 5,500 enumerators and 1,200 supervisors in Andhra Pradesh, will conduct the survey to gather insights for data-driven policy decisions. The data collection phase will continue until February 28, 2025, to support state and central government animal welfare programmes. The comprehensive census data will inform decision-making and resource allocation in the livestock sector in Andhra Pradesh.
