14 lakh BPL cards in Karnataka ineligible, to be weeded out

Officials in Mysuru have found that over 1.37 lakh BPL families have not collected their ration for more than six months. It has been discovered that nearly 14 lakh BPL cards in Karnataka have been issued to ineligible families. Many of these cards have been given to government employees and families with incomes above the BPL threshold. This misuse of resources is costing the state thousands of crores, which could be used for social or infrastructure investments. Efforts are being made to weed out bogus cards and ensure that benefits reach those who truly need them.
