A classic 1962 model Mercedes-Benz bus, once owned by KSRTC and out of service since 1978, has been restored by Mechanical students at MGM ITI, Rajakumari. The bus, originally manufactured in Germany and assembled in India by TATA, was brought back to life after nearly four months of hard work. With help from KSRTC providing spare parts, the students managed to restore the bus to its former glory. The bus, now displayed at MGM ITI, is a rare piece of history and one of only two of its kind left in India. Despite the restoration being mostly complete, the bus has not yet received a permit to hit the road.
