Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that all five toll booths entering Mumbai will no longer collect toll from light motor vehicles, starting tonight. This decision was made during the last cabinet meeting before the upcoming Assembly elections. The move is expected to benefit daily commuters and reduce traffic congestion at these entry points. Despite criticism from opposition leaders, CM Shinde clarified that this toll waiver is a permanent decision aimed at addressing traffic issues in the region. Raj Thackeray also praised the government for this move, while the opposition labeled it as a desperate measure before the polls.
