Kia has introduced a new trunk liner for the EV3 made from recycled plastic collected from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in collaboration with The Ocean Cleanup. This eco-friendly product not only showcases durability and design but also raises awareness about ocean plastic pollution. Kia aims to increase the use of sustainable materials in its vehicles, with a target of 20% recycled plastic content across its lineup by 2030. The trunk liner features a design inspired by ocean waves, made from 40% recycled ocean plastic, and meets the same standards as conventional trunk liners. The recycling process for the plastic required specialized techniques to ensure high quality and consistency, given the challenges posed by plastic that has been circulating in the ocean for an extended period. This initiative highlights Kia’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in automotive design.
