The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has developed a new metro rail extension from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar in collaboration with the state government and the Centre. This project, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 16, will improve connectivity between the two cities, connecting crucial hubs like GIFT City. The total project cost for Phase 2 is Rs 5,384 crore, funded through loans from international financial institutions. The extended metro route will significantly reduce travel time and provide a more sustainable, affordable, and convenient travel option for professionals, students, and tourists.
