Over 90 Lakh People Travel On Chennai Metro For 3rd Consecutive Month

According to a recent announcement from Metro Rail, a record number of 3.74 lakh passengers used the metro rail service on September 6, 2024. This is part of a trend where over 90 lakh passengers have been utilizing the Chennai Metro for the past few months, making it the preferred mode of transport in the city. In September alone, 92.77 lakh commuters used the service, with a significant portion using NCMC Singara Chennai card. The Chennai Metro project, which started in 2015, covers two corridors spanning a total of 45.046 km. The success of the metro is attributed to increasing traffic congestion in the city, prompting more people to opt for public transportation.
