Navi Mumbai Airport Set to Take the Lead by 2030, Terminal 1 To Shut This Year



The Navi Mumbai airport is set to become the primary hub in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region by the early 2030s, surpassing the current Mumbai airport. As the Navi Mumbai airport prepares to open in late May, passengers will have to choose between the two facilities. Currently, only around 20% of passengers are expected to shift to Navi Mumbai this winter, but this number is projected to increase over the next decade. The expansion of Navi Mumbai’s terminals and infrastructure will help accommodate the growing number of passengers, ultimately making it the dominant airport in the region by 2032.
