Kia recalls nearly 463,000 Telluride SUVs over potential fire risk

Kia America is recalling nearly 463,000 model year 2020-2024 Telluride SUVs due to a fire hazard posed by an issue with the front power seat motor. The recall was prompted by reports of one under-seat fire and six incidents of localized melting in the seat tilt motor. Owners are being urged to park their cars outside and away from buildings until the issue is fixed. Dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs at no cost. This is not the only recall affecting Kia Telluride vehicles, with a previous recall issued for a defect that could cause the cars to roll away while parked. Additionally, Kia and Hyundai have faced recalls for engine compartment fires in other models. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by the recall through the NHTSA site or Kia’s recall lookup platform.
