Indian govt aims to improve road conditions. Here’s how

The Indian government has decided to extend the defect liability period under EPC contracts to 10 years to improve road conditions. Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the decision, noting that roads built under EPC mode often have quality issues within 3 years. This change applies to projects where the government provides funding, while private partners offer construction assistance. The move is part of efforts to enhance road infrastructure and promote self-reliance by reducing imports and increasing exports.
