The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced a new notification stating that owners of private vehicles equipped with a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) will not be charged toll fees for travelling up to 20 km on highways and expressways per day. Toll fees will only be charged on the actual distance traveled if it exceeds 20 km. This new rule will benefit those who use short stretches of national highways daily. The GNSS-based toll collection system will replace the FASTag system, allowing for precise toll calculations and automatic deductions, providing a more convenient and cost-effective travel experience for drivers.
