In May 2024, domestic passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 4% to 3,47,492 units, compared to the same month in the previous year. Overall passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers reached 3,34,537 units. The growth in passenger vehicle sales was attributed to a high base effect from the previous year. Two-wheeler sales also saw a significant increase of 10% to 16,20,084 units, while three-wheeler dispatches rose by 15% to 55,763 units. The rise in sales was reported by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) President Vinod Aggarwal. The increase in sales is seen as a positive sign for the Indian automobile industry.
