The Delhi government plans to install over 500 AI-based Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to monitor traffic violations beyond just speeding and red light jumping. These cameras will help in detecting vehicles that have exceeded the 15-year time limit, expired insurance, or have been reported stolen. They will also identify banned vehicles during schemes like odd-even or GRAP restrictions. Managed by a private company for 20 years, revenue will be generated through fines. The cameras will help in comprehensive monitoring of rule violations and enhance traffic surveillance in Delhi.
