British Air Force Scrambles Fighter Jet To Intercept Air India Plane After Bomb Threat

On October 17, 2024, a bomb threat was received for an Air India plane flying from Mumbai to London. The Royal Air Force scrambled a Typhoon fighter jet to intercept the aircraft, which landed safely at London Heathrow airport. The jets caused a loud sonic boom in East Anglia as they were authorised to transit at supersonic speed. The incident is now being handled by civilian authorities, and Norfolk Police confirmed the noise was a sonic boom and not an explosion. The situation was resolved without any major issues, and the flight was able to continue to its original destination under civilian air traffic control.
