Bengaluru: BEML Rolls Out First Driverless Metro Trainsets For BMRCL

BEML, a top manufacturer of rail and Metro trainsets in India, recently started the production of driverless Metro trainsets for the BMRCL project in Bengaluru. They received an order for 53 trainsets worth Rs 3,177 crore in August 2023. The trainsets will have a six-car formation and are designed and developed by BEML’s engineering team in Bengaluru. They will be made of high-tensile stainless steel for durability and passenger comfort, with features like air conditioning, passenger announcement systems, and safety measures like automatic doors. This project is part of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project Phase 2, 2A, and 2B.
