Bengaluru’s civic body has completed the detailed project report for an anticipated tunnel road project connecting Hebbal to the Central Silk Board junction in just three months, ahead of schedule. The massive six-lane tunnel will feature key interchanges at Lalbagh, Mehkri Circle, and Race Course Road to ease traffic flow. The project, estimated at Rs 16,500 crore, will be executed under a public-private partnership, with private contractors covering 70% of the cost. The use of larger Tunnel Boring Machines from China is expected to reduce costs. However, some experts have raised concerns about the project’s impact on travel time and suggest prioritizing a metro line along the same route.
