Ashok Leyland Partners With Nidec to Drive Electric Future in Commercial Vehicles

Ashok Leyland has partnered with Nidec to develop e-drive motors for commercial vehicles. They will establish a Center of Excellence for Electric Drive Units to focus on motor technologies and power electronics systems for EVs. The collaboration will also involve joint research and development efforts to innovate gear-shifting mechanisms. Ashok Leyland will continue to source motors from Nidec for its current EV lineup while working on future electric solutions. This partnership aims to advance electric mobility capabilities and cater to the unique demands of India’s commercial vehicle market. The announcement comes after the launch of the Prime Minister E-Drive Scheme to promote electric vehicles in the country.
