After Delhi, this Indian state introduces odd-even scheme but not due to pollution. Know more

The Sikkim government has introduced an odd-even traffic rule similar to Delhi’s to tackle congestion in Gangtok municipal area. Unlike Delhi, this rule is not aimed at fighting air pollution but reducing vehicular congestion. Odd-numbered vehicles will operate on odd dates and even-numbered vehicles on even dates within specific timeframes. Emergency service vehicles and essential service vehicles are exempt from these restrictions. The Delhi government may also enforce the odd-even scheme soon to combat air pollution as the air quality in the national capital has been deteriorating. The AQI was recorded at 352 on Sunday, categorized as ‘very poor.’ With Diwali approaching, the air quality is expected to worsen, prompting the Delhi government to take action.
