“53 accidents, 19 deaths each hour”: Nitin Gadkari raises alarm over road safety



At the SIAM annual convention, Nitin Gadkari emphasized the need for safer roads in India, which has the highest number of road accidents and deaths globally. He urged manufacturers to start driver-training schools to ensure that drivers are aware of local regulations and skilled in operating vehicles. Gadkari also highlighted the importance of Bharat NCAP, India’s crash-safety ratings program for vehicles. He called for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to reduce accidents and make roads safer for motorists and pedestrians.
