Despite a 2012 report highlighting these issues, successive governments have failed to take action. A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has been formed to investigate these allegations, with the aim of holding those responsible for the misuse of Waqf assets accountable. The controversy has sparked a social media war between political leaders, with accusations and counter-accusations being exchanged.
