Air pollution in national capital spike during Chhath Puja, AQI reaches ‘severe’ level



The city experienced a layer of smog covering many areas, with pollution levels spiking during Chhath Puja. The Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 382 in some places, with some areas seeing a “severe” level of pollution. The IMD forecasted mist or smog to cover the city at night. Sixteen weather stations recorded AQI levels above 400, with the city’s AQI ranging from 367 in the morning to 377 in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was above normal, and shallow fog is expected on Friday. The AQI classifications range from “good” to “severe.”
