The National Commission for Women has taken action against West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim for making sexist remarks against BJP leader Rekha Patra. The NCW has directed the chief secretary and DGP to conduct a fair and time-bound investigation into the matter. Hakim’s derogatory remarks were made while discussing Patra’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections to the Trinamool Congress. The NCW has asked for a detailed report to be submitted within three days.
