The first phase of the metro project in Indore, with an investment of Rs 7,500.80 crore, is set to transform the city’s transportation network. The initial metro trains will have three coaches, with plans to expand to six if passenger numbers rise. Preparations for the commercial operation of the metro rail have been intensified, with a 5.9 km route between Gandhi Nagar station and the Super Corridor set to begin operations in early 2025. The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation is conducting tests and will submit a report to the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety for approval. The metro stations are designed to accommodate six-coach trains, but initially, three-coach trains will be used. The foundation stone for the metro project was laid in September 2019, and the 31.50 km long corridor is expected to be completed soon.
