Two senior Delhi-based BJP leaders have anonymously shared that changing the party’s leadership ahead of an election in January is not ideal. The process of selecting a successor for JP Nadda as BJP’s national president is still ongoing, with the party setting up committees at various levels. The Delhi assembly election is scheduled for January or February 2025, and there are discussions within the party about whether to wrap up the presidential elections by December. The BJP seems comfortable with conducting the process whenever the leadership deems fit, but some leaders believe changing the party’s face just before an election should be avoided. The party has previously made important announcements during inauspicious periods, so it may choose to ignore such beliefs in the upcoming decisions.
