In October 2024, overall fuel consumption in India increased by 2.9% compared to the same month the previous year. This rise was driven by increased petrol and diesel sales, fueled by higher vehicular and economic activity during the festive season. While petrol consumption saw a significant 8.6% increase, diesel sales only grew by 0.18% year-on-year. However, on a month-on-month basis, diesel consumption spiked by 19.9% in October, marking the highest sales in the last five months. Overall, India’s fuel consumption in October reached 20.04 million metric tons, reflecting a 2.9% year-on-year increase. This surge in demand was attributed to heightened economic activity during the festive season.
