T’gana BJP MLA asks Rahul Gandhi’s ‘religion’ after Cong govt. begins caste survey

Telangana BJP MLA A Maheshwar Reddy criticized the Congress government for deceiving backward classes in the name of caste survey. He also stirred controversy by questioning Rahul Gandhi’s caste and religion. The Congress party responded strongly, questioning Reddy’s knowledge of Gandhi’s background when he was in Congress. Reddy insisted that Gandhi’s caste and religion should be known before discussing caste census. He also demanded that promises made to backward classes in the ‘BC Declaration’ be implemented. The state Congress president emphasized that Gandhi is accepted as a leader regardless of caste, religion, or regional affiliations.
