Anglo-Indian leaders demand restoration of quota in Lok Sabha, Assemblies

The leaders of the Anglo-Indian community are calling on the government to reinstate the quota for Anglo-Indians in Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. They are urging the Centre to conduct a caste census to accurately determine the number of Anglo-Indians in the country. The leaders feel that the community’s voice is not being heard in Parliament or Assemblies due to lack of representation. They argue that the government’s reliance on 2011 Census figures is inaccurate and unjust, as there is a significant population of nearly four lakh Anglo-Indians in the country. The leaders are requesting a separate enumeration for the Anglo-Indian community in the forthcoming Census and the appointment of a Commission to assess their social, economic, and educational situation. They believe that the community, which has made significant contributions to India, is being neglected and denied opportunities.
