Two FIRs have been filed against actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty for allegedly making provocative statements during a BJP event in Salt Lake area near Kolkata. The complaints relate to his speech on October 27 at a BJP programme attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Chakraborty had asserted that the BJP would come to power in West Bengal after the 2026 elections. BJP has claimed that the FIRs are a result of vendetta politics by the TMC government, while TMC has denied this and stated that the law will take its course. Chakraborty had warned against intimidation of BJP voters and called on party workers to resist such attempts.
