The outgoing president of Himachal Pradesh Congress, Pratibha Singh, has joined the Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has dissolved the entire Pradesh Congress Committee in Himachal Pradesh, along with district and block units, in a move to restructure the party in the state. There has been no change in the PCC since the Congress formed the government in Himachal Pradesh. The Himachal Congress has faced factionalism, seen during the Rajya Sabha election when Congress nominee Abhishek Singhvi lost to the BJP candidate due to defections and cross-voting. Several names are being considered for the new party chief, including ministers Anirudh Singh and Harshvardhan Chauhan.
