President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the importance of the judiciary in providing equal justice and moving away from colonial practices. She commended the Supreme Court for its contribution as the conscience-keeper of Independent India and developing a jurisprudence rooted in Indian ethos. She highlighted the need to remove outdated colonial practices and uphold equality as guiding principles for the judiciary. The release of three publications, including one titled Justice for Nation, marked the Supreme Court’s 75-year journey. President Murmu also mentioned the significance of legal aid clinics and reducing the number of undertrial prisoners. The event was attended by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
