A 36-year-old man in Malappuram has been sentenced to 70 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1.6 lakh for sexually abusing a minor girl. The man was found guilty of attacking the 14-year-old twice in 2020. The court imposed different sentences under various sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act, all to be served concurrently. The court also ordered Rs 1 lakh from the fine to be given to the victim as compensation. The investigation was led by officers Sunil Pulikkal, Gopakumar, and Dinesh Koroth, with Special Public Prosecutor Adv Swapna P Parameswarath representing the prosecution.
