Meta has announced that it will extend the ban on new political ads on Facebook and Instagram even after the US presidential election on November 5. The restriction period for ads about social issues, elections, or politics will be extended until later in the week, although the exact end date was not specified. Ads that ran before October 29 and served at least one impression will be allowed to continue with limited editing capabilities. The rationale behind this restriction is to prevent new claims from being made in ads in the final days of an election. The ban on new political ads will be lifted on November 6, allowing new ads to be published and edits to be made.
