Flight services from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport will be suspended for five hours on November 9 for the ‘Alpassi Arattu’ procession of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. This tradition has been going on for centuries, with the procession crossing the airport runway to reach the beach for a holy bath. The airport closes its runway twice a year for this event, ensuring the region’s culture and traditions are preserved. Flight schedules will be adjusted, and NOTAMs are issued to alert airmen about the runway closure for the bi-annual festivals.
