‘Jis aadmi ka naam liya…’

Asaduddin Owaisi, the Chief of AIMIM, claimed that Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai residence, Antilia, is built on land belonging to the Waqf Board. He criticized the Waqf Amendment Act of 2024, accusing the government of trying to take away Waqf land under the guise of reforms. Owaisi refuted allegations of illegal occupation of Waqf properties by Muslims and alleged that Antilia is built on Waqf land. The Waqf Act Amendment Bill aims to address issues related to State Waqf Boards, registration of properties, and removal of encroachments. The bill has sparked controversy, with the opposition claiming it aims to deprive Muslims of their lands, while the government states it is a demand of the Muslim community. The bill is currently under scrutiny by a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
