The Republican National Committee (RNC) is pleased that GOP poll watchers were allowed into four blue-leaning counties’ election offices for extended absentee ballot hours this past weekend. The party had threatened to sue Fulton County and other counties for opening election offices over the weekend for in-person absentee ballot submissions without allowing public observers. The RNC worked with Georgia election officials to secure access for poll observers. Democrats accused Republicans of causing chaos in Georgia’s election processes, while Republicans argued that the extended hours for turning in absentee ballots over the weekend violated state rules. A judge rejected a Republican bid to force Fulton County to hire more GOP poll workers for Election Day.
