MEA on Canada labelling India ‘cyber adversary’



India has strongly criticized Canada for including it in a list of cyberthreat “adversaries”, calling it an attack on the country. The report from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security alleges that Indian state-sponsored actors conduct cyber threat activity against Canada for espionage. India has rejected these accusations, stating they are baseless and without evidence. The inclusion of India in this list comes amid strained relations between the two countries, with issues regarding pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil. India has expelled Canadian diplomats and withdrawn officials in response to these allegations. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security is the authority on cyber security in Canada and the report suggests that India is looking to build a modernized cyber program.
