An X user had a harrowing experience with his newly purchased Tata Nexon EV during a trip from Bengaluru to Chennai. The range dropped to 0% abruptly, leaving him stranded on the highway. Despite starting with 45% battery and a range of 170 km, the battery quickly dropped to 0% with 35 km still to cover. Tata Emergency Services had to be called for roadside assistance, and the user was helped to the nearest charging station. It is unclear why the battery charge and range dropped so suddenly, as EVs are designed to switch to limp mode to conserve energy in such situations. Tata Motors has been contacted for a statement on the issue. The Tata Nexon EV is a popular electric SUV with a claimed range of 489 km, but real-world range is around 300-350 km.
