Migratory birds have started arriving at the Kolleru bird sanctuary in Andhra Pradesh from Central Asia and Eastern Europe for the winter season, though there was some delay this year due to inclement weather conditions. Forest authorities are working to create artificial nests to encourage the birds to lay their eggs and breed. Nearly 108 species of migratory birds are expected to arrive this season. Foresters are also raising awareness among local villagers to prevent poaching and harm to the birds, taking strict action against offenders. They are also providing facilities to attract more birds to the sanctuary.
