The state government in Thiruvananthapuram decided to conduct further investigation into the 2021 Kodakara hawala case after a meeting between the chief minister and the DGP. Former BJP office secretary Thiroor Satheesh’s statement will be recorded in detail, and the government will seek permission from the court for further investigation. Satheesh’s revelation that the money seized was hawala cash meant for the BJP has sparked controversy ahead of the bypolls in Kerala. The SIT will record Satheesh’s statement again, and BJP state president K Surendran has denied any connection to the case. Satheesh explained how the cash arrived at the party office and was later stolen during transport. The Kodakara hawala case involved the hijacking of a vehicle carrying Rs 3.5 crore intended as BJP funds, with Rs 1.4 crore still unaccounted for.
