A 61-year-old man in Kasaragod was sentenced to double life imprisonment for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl during the COVID-19 pandemic. The abuse took place from 2020 to November 2021. The man was found guilty of repeated sexual assault under the POCSO Act and was also fined Rs 1.5 lakh. If he doesn’t pay the fine, he will serve an additional six months in prison. He was also given two seven-year prison terms for other offenses under the POCSO Act. The case was investigated by Cheemeni Sub-Inspector Ajitha K.
