The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for submitting income tax returns to October 31, in response to requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations. This extension was also made due to the public holidays announced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s meeting. The FBR has been extending the tax return submission deadline in recent years, with last year’s deadline also being pushed to October 31. This extension comes after the government’s tax-heavy budget in June, aimed at securing a bailout deal with the IMF.
