Former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Tom Homan, suggested that mass deportations could be done without separating families by deporting families together. He made this statement during an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” Homan served during part of former President Donald Trump’s administration and Trump has expressed interest in pursuing the largest mass deportation in U.S. history if he wins the 2024 presidential election. Homan emphasized that mass deportation is necessary in response to the historic illegal immigration crisis and that his first priorities for removal would be public safety and national security threats.
