Pinarayi Vijayan’s statements are racist and communal, says SDPI

The State vice-president of the Social Democratic Party of India, P. Abdul Hameed, has accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of making racist and communal statements to gain political advantage in the upcoming bypolls. He believes that such actions will only worsen social divisions in Kerala. Hameed also criticized the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for following the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s tactics in dividing the state along communal lines. He claimed that Vijayan’s efforts to regain Hindu votes lost in the Lok Sabha elections by expressing anti-Muslim views are motivated by sinister intentions. Hameed specifically pointed to Vijayan’s endorsement of a book by a CPI(M) member that he described as anti-Muslim and misleading.
