McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers to return to restaurants affected by E. coli outbreak

McDonald’s Quarter Pounder burgers are returning to about 900 restaurants after being pulled due to a deadly E. coli outbreak. The affected restaurants will serve the burgers without slivered onions in certain states as health authorities investigate. The outbreak has led to 75 cases across 13 states with 22 hospitalized and two developing a serious condition. McDonald’s has stopped using the supplier responsible for the onions and is working on a new supply of beef patties. The company’s president apologized to customers in a video. McDonald’s is expected to report its third-quarter earnings soon.
