McDonald’s Quarter Pounder beef patties not the source of E. coli outbreak, company says

No E. coli was found in McDonald’s Quarter Pounder beef patties linked to a deadly outbreak. The likely source of contamination was slivered onions from a single source, Taylor Farms Colorado Springs, which McDonald’s stopped sourcing from. Quarter Pounders are expected to be back in restaurants this week. All 900 restaurants getting onions from Taylor Farms will continue selling Quarter Pounders without onions for now. The outbreak strain, O157:H7, can cause serious illnesses. The CDC began investigating the outbreak after the first case was reported on Sept. 27. As of Friday, 75 people in 13 states were infected, with one death. Multiple people have sued McDonald’s claiming they got sick after eating there.
