Laser show debuts over Victory at Sea memorial in Vizag

In Visakhapatnam, a mesmerizing laser show at Beach YMCA transported hundreds of spectators back to India’s pivotal naval battle in 1971. The “Victory at Sea” stupa became the backdrop for dramatic scenes of warfare, including the emergence of INS Vikrant. The emotional display left many in awe, with some shedding tears and others applauding. Spectators, like the Mukherjee family from Bengal, felt that this immersive experience was a powerful way to teach history to children. Many viewers hoped for the inclusion of more border warfare scenarios to educate younger generations about India’s military heritage. The laser show is part of the Smart City project led by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and the Indian Navy, aiming to showcase Visakhapatnam’s strategic importance. It will be projected every Sunday for the next three years.
